Anyone know of a good place to stay in the CA wine country?
I’m looking for a good recommendation of a place that’s not too expensive ($<250/night) in Sonoma. A hotel or a B&B would work. I’m slightly averse to the overly antiquey/lacey B&Bs though. Would consider Napa too. Appreciate any suggestions.

I’d suggest trying the Fairmont in Sonoma. They are well-known. A great luxurious hotel with quality customer service! I’ve been there and I honestly wouldn’t go to any other location just because of how wonderful the service is. They have packages where you can have wine in your room, daily wine tastings and wonderful spa massages! I’m planning to go back there in January.
This depends on when you are planning on visiting. Right now Napa & Sonoma are going into their off season so prices are significantly reduced. Peak season picks up in late April (and Valentine’s Day weekend). If you’re okay with not having your linens and towels changed everyday try a vacation rental - http://www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals by Owners). There are some fantastic properties out there and some great deals. Also, try "price chopping" on priceline.com. You can name a bid of up to 50% off what the standard rate is. If you’re traveling mid-week you’ll get an even better deal.
Vintage Inn and the Villagio in Yountville are two of my favorites for Napa — very reasonably priced.
