Do I need a liquor license to serve alcohol at a private party (in Ohio)?
I am offering beer and wine to a private party (not in a home) in Ohio and want to know if I need a liquor license? The alcohol has already been purchased by me and would be offered to the guests free of charge and would be offered on a table so that they help themselves.
Please help!

As long as you are not charging admission to the party or for the drinks, a license is not needed in Ohio. It wouldn’t be any different than a wedding reception or any other private gathering. In Ohio you are legally responsible for alcohol distribution to your guests however, that includes not knowingly allowing minors to drink and making sure intoxicated people have a safe way to get home.
as far as i know..you would only need the lic. if you were charging.
If it’s not in your home, where is the party? If it’s at a park, there might be city regulations. Be aware that if you serve minors, you can be arrested. And, if anyone gets drunk and hurts or kills someone while driving home, that YOU are also responsible for damages……
Answer to your initial question: No
A private party where you bought the drinks and are not charging for the drinks is allowed. Just make sure everyone is of age
