Don’t ever use cooking wine! If it’s not fit to drink, it’s certainly not good enough to cook with. Because of the salt content, it can really screw up a recipe!
For recipes calling for red wine, use a good beef stock as a substitute, and for recipes with white wine, use chicken stock. These are admirable substitutes and won’t mess with the recipe.
*Note, homemade stocks are always preferable to canned.
Yes, I have been carded for it before.
I’d think so
yes
Unfortunately. If it truly is for cooking your parents shouldn’t have a problem with getting you it though
Most recipies using wine, dont need it, its usually optional… try it without if your not old enough
Don’t buy that swill! Use chicken stock or broth instead if you can’t get a hold of real wine.
Hmmm…..I was a cashier here in the south for two years at a grocery store, and the cooking wine never locked up the register for I.D. like the regular wine did…..Not only that, but you can sell cooking wine here on Sundays, and Blue laws prohibit alcohol sales on Sundays. I wouldn’t think it would be dependent on where you live, since the legal drinking age is a national law and not local, but here in South Carolina, my own experience tells me you wouldn’t get carded.
Never use cooking wine. It has salt and other additives. Look on the ingredient list on the bottle. Only use a wine that you would drink. If you have to wait the 5 months or ask a friend for help.
