Do you use a wine club?
I have made a website http://www.veritaswines.co.uk/ in an effort to learn more about wine clubs and start collecting wine myself. All the information on the site has been made from reading books and researching online but I have never collected wine myself and I would love to hear from someone that does! I would like to find out why they collect wine and what wines they feel are best? What’s the most versatile wine?
I love drinking wine but as I am on my own a the moment I don’t buy it cause I always feel wine is for celebrating! I want a good wine for when my girl friend comes to visit and If I get any other visitors!

I’ve been a member of 2 wine clubs in the past. One sent me small boutique wines once a month. It was a good way to sample a variety. The other one was Club Mumm, sparkling California wine. That was my favorite. Two bottles of bubbly every month, always had food pairing recipes included, events coming up, and a trinket of some sort. Sometimes it was an engraved pen, a calendar, a wine charm, a bag, you name it. And I got discounts in their tasting room and gift shop. Now that’s service.
So, I feel Champagne/sparkling wine is the most versatile. It’s good, fun, and goes with anything. A friend of mine and I split a bottle over pizza once and it worked well together. There’s nothing I’ve found so far that does not go with bubbly.
I think that wine clubs are a good learning experience for wine. Most have excellent tasting notes along with the wines you will be tasting. Many also include food pairing advice for each wine.
