Good Wine as a gift?
I am not a wine drinker and some close friends of ours are giving us a couples wedding shower so I want to bring them an appreciation gift (aka a bottle of wine!) We are BBQ’ing, brisket, chicken, etc…. What is the name of a good wine that would go with this type of meal? I want to bring one as a gift and the other to drink that day. The men will probally be drinking beer.

A nice middle of the road wine is Bella Sera it’s an Italian wine available in red and white. Cost wise it’s a good buy, I like the Piniot Girgio it works very well with chicken. Enjoy!
Try out Smoking Loon’s Cabernet Savignon. It’s excellent.
Try a merlot if you are serving beef…barefoot is a good brand
or chardonnay I like leaping lizard if you are serving Chicken.
A nice zinfandel would work, it is a light wine that goes with most anything.

MONDAVI its cheap and nice….either get cabernet sovioun..or white zifidel. MONDAVI is cheap but recently won a bunch of awards for being quite delishish plus im hooked

If they are not wine snobs you could try anything from the Sutter Home or Glen Ellyn Proprietor’s Reserve vineyards. They are not particularly expensive but tend to be good.
For the men go with Samuel Adams. For the women go with White Zinfandel.
Normally, reds go better with beef and whites go better with chicken. When considering whether a wine is "good" or not, the vintage (year the grapes were harvested) is far more important than the brand name or winery.
2005 was a good year for French Bordeaux
2001 was a great year for California Cabernet Sauvignon
Any year is a good year for Malbec from Argentina.
If it matters that much to you, pick up a copy of the latest Wine Spectator magazine and they’ll have some decent picks.
white or red with a cook out mid price
Go with Beringer White Zinfandel It’s really popular and very good.

It would have helped to know where you are. I’m going to assume your barbecue will be the sort that people in Memphis, Chicago or Kansas City would tolerate, and not that ridiculous white stuff Carolinians think is barbecue, for instance.
A zinfandel (red, definitely not white) might work with the brisket, but a barbera or even a lambrusco will probably work out better. For the chicken, I’d suggest a sauvignon blanc, one of the balanced ones like Frances Ford Coppola’s, not the really grassy ones.
If you are in North America bring a Zinfandel or a Syrah. If you are in Europe bring a Rioja or a Portuguese red.
A red zinfandel (NOT the typical blush you’re used to seeing) is the wine of choice for heavy BBQ foods. Dancing Bull makes a really good Zin. On the other hand, a refreshing, cold white (red is served warm) such as a Fisheye (brand) Pinot Grigio will go well outside and be good with the chicken.
Zinfandel would be perfect. Any Zinfandel from Rosenblum or Renwood would be a great Zin.
Zinfandel can be light to full bodied. It can be rich and spicy or lighter and fruitier. Aromas and flavors that are typical include raspberry, jam, black pepper, and licorice.
Food and Wine Pairing:This type of red wine is wonderful with steaks, grilled meats, and tomato based dishes.
