That doesn’t mean you can’t recycle them, of course you can!
It just means that you can’t redeem them for the 5 or 10 cents. But then you weren’t charged that when you bought the bottle of wine either.

not every state has bottle redemption. in my state they just slap a sticker on to show it’s returnable. if your state has codes, than the wineries aren’t able to imprint the codes or sort out where the wine is shipped to. put it in with your recycling, not your redeemables.

You are talking cash re- cycling.Wine bottles are very recyclable but usually no cash for doing it I’m afraid.
We have Brown Green Clear bins especially to put Wine? beer bottles in.

Why not perfume,milk,aftershave,etc., bottles not having redemption codes on them ?
Unlike plastics, "all" glass can be recycled, however it is up to" each individual state" to determine what glass they want to have a redemption value. In my state, water bottles, be they plastic or glass, have just been approved for redemption even though bottle redemption has been around for years on other bottles.

excellent point. I never realized this till you posted.
I just do curb side recycling. But, you are right they should give people money for the bottles.

They are perfectly recycle-friendly. They just don’t pay you to do it. However, if you know anyone who vints wine, that person will be delighted to get your empties. You might even get one back, refilled. Champagne bottles that can take a crown cap are in demand for use in bottling beer, too.
