How complicated is Suse desktop linux to use?
I’ve just purchased a HP 2133 Mini-note netbook and it was a bargain price, however, this is partially because it has Suse linux on it as opossed to Windows XP or Vista.
My question is, how difficult is Suse linux to use for a person with no knowledge of Linux what so ever? All I want it for it using the internet, taking notes and maybe watching a film. Do you think it’ll all come ready to go, or will it be quite complicated to set up things like the wifi on Linux?
Also, I would like to run Microsoft Office on it, and I understand that through softwear called "Wine", it is possible to run Office and other Windows software. How complex is this to set up and would it be fairly straightforward for a person without knowledge of Linux?
Thanks

hi i’m sorry sorry if I write bad but not the English i’m italian and i live in Italia,
however, we can say that it is normal that you seem difficult because linux is completely different from windows, both in terms of graphics for both the kernel, etc. .. still somewhat familiar with suse and it will be a breeze for you to use it
The price you see, because Linux is open source, and I would recommend ubuntu even if suse is very good, and then, wine allows you to use most of the programs that run on windows, also with regard to driver and configurations, there is no problem we think we found him all the best, but you should be connected to the internet,
however I council windows, especially xp, vista but also is good unless you have 2 gig of ram
ciao ciao (hi)
If I were you, I think It would be best for you to install XP on it, and make it easier for yourself
Easiest way to find out is to just turn the computer on and use it. Just go through all of the programs and menus and stuff that are on there and form your opinion that way.
I will tell you that Linux, no matter the version, is just as easy to run as Windows. I say this because I have used Linux in the past and is very similar to Windows 95/98.
As for the installation of XP. That may be an option but honestly you should take into consideration of the specs of the computer. It may not have the power to run XP. It should, but not guaranteed.
Quick look at the specs of the computer, It says that Open Office is installed already on it. Open Office is a free office suite that is 100% compatible with Microsoft Office.
Linux uses Openoffice, an office clone, and can use all the office type documents. Openoffice is a linux app and does not need wine.
It is not difficult to use as long as you realize that you are not using windows. Linux is different from windows and you cannot do things the same way as you did them in windows. It is not difficult it is just different.
I would suggest that you go to the link below and look for the info you need to use the desktop, watch a film, and connect to the internet. Be sure you read the FAQs, the how tos, and configuration.
Good luck
