How long should an unopened bottle of wine last?
sat here enjoying a particularly fine red wine, i looked up its info on the net and it says that its best drunk before 2009. My question is, has the practice of laying down a case or two of wine finished? you hear how a 1934 St Emilion is worth a fortune but if we don’t follow on the practice then in 80/90 years time we will have none of the wines of today to treasure

Its all you could cover on this extensive topic
A high end collectors wine will never get drunk. Either by choice in its earlier stages, but definitely by loss of preservation as it gets too old
Couldn’t say but this I can say…I sure as heck hope not! I love a fine wine. Can’t wait to find out the answer to this.
Well, it depends on the acid content and the way it’s sealed.
I would think it should be okay though, as long as it’s kept in a cool (not cold) and dark place.
Some wines sit better than others. You need a proper environment to lay down a case or two. It would need to be the proper temperature and in general a dark dry place like a basement. The practice is not dead it is just so few have the room.
It depends on the wine.. some wine taste better when its older while some tastes better when its drank before a certain time.
