How many bottles of wine and kegs of beer for a wedding reception?
We are fortunate enough to be able to bring alcohol to our wedding. We have 100 people coming, with at least half that can drink like they belong in a fraternity. We would like to keep within our budget so we are going to have beer and wine only. How many bottles of wine and kegs (or cases) of beer should we get?
I should also mention it is at a hotel out of town (beach wedding) so all guests will be staying in the same hotel where the reception is being held. No one will be driving

Make it so everyone can have just a drink or two…. Please dont be liable for drunk driving and a death of a friend or someone else.
You might consider saying a small speech like…"We would like everyone to join us in celebrating our special day, please have a drink with us."
Then have "servers" pass out EITHER a glass of wine or a glass of beer. You could have 3 or 4 of each kind of drink on a tray and have them served…..
The purpose of the drink is to celebrate the wedding. A symbolic gesture of good will… not a free for all party.

Talk to a liquor store about your situation. You can buy more than you need and take it back if unused. Most (not all) liquor stores will do this.
I would think a few half kegs of beer and 2 cases each of white, red and rose. Again, make sure you can take back what is not used.
sammie, you are lame. she already said all guests will staying in the same hotel and no one will be driving. It’s a celebration, not a business dinner! Geez I say go have some fun, it’s your wedding!!!

Well usually the rule of thumb is 3 drinks per guest. So do the math…about 6-7 glasses of wine in a bottle and 24 bottles of beer in a case (no kegs to at least class it up since it’s a wedding). But if you think your friends and family are gonna get f…ed up worse than the newly weds, then just increase to please the masses. P.S. approximately 27 shots in a liter of liquor just in case.
