How to store a young wine?
I have about 3 cases of a red Barbera wine, which is supposed to be consumed young. Since I don’t have a cellar and it may take me 1 year to drink it, can I keep the bottles at room temperature or should I store them in the spare fridge (about 40F)? I kept white wine in the fridge for 2 years and it was very good, but I never tried with reds.

If you don’t open the wine and you store it in the fridge, or even just some place cool and dark, it will almost stop the ageing process. Red wine that’s meant to be drank young is generally to be consumed within 3-4 years of production. If you’re drinking it in the next year, you have no worries anyhow.
The most important things to consider when storing wine are to have a consistent temperature, stable humidity and to keep the bottles on their sides. It is not necessary to store the wine in the fridge but it would be fine if you do. You also could just put a wine rack somewhere cool and dark and they would also be fine. It must be a great wine if you bought 3 cases of it!
Cheers!
On their side..in a cool dark closet. Rotate them every month or so.
