I want a sweet German red wine, what do I look for on the bottle's label?
I live in the Mosel region of Germany and love the local white auslese wines, how do I find a similar taste from red wines?

The Mosel-Saar-Ruwer-region has few red wines, the best (in my opinion) of the German red wines comes from the Ahr-region. To find a sweet wine you have to look for ‘Beerenauslese’ or the word ‘fruchtig’ on the label.
OK, ‘Beerenauslese’ are most rather expensive but really sweet.
For buying I would advise you not to dig through the shelves in a supermarket by yourself. If you have the chance to go into the food-markets in a department-store like ‘Karstadt’ you should do it, there would be helpful personal around - perhaps even a special wine-market in it.
ask the locals, they would be of great assistance to you, when my mother visited Germany, she brought back some wonderfull sweet red wine….best I have ever had….and can’t get it here in the USA, I believe she said it was made by the monks there…..
I dont know if Germans make Port but Port is a sweet, red wine.
