I want to know what sort of wine I have. I know it’s from 1972, it says Fratelli Bolla Verona. ?
I recently went through an old wine cellar of my aunts. The label to the bottle of wine in question is unreadable. I know it is from 1972 because of a sticker that says QUALITA SUPERIORE. The top says Fratelli Bolla Verona. I’m pretty sure it is an italian import. But I would like to know more before I open it. If anyone has any information I would be extremely grateful.

Bolla is the company, Verona the region (a non DOC designation in the Veneto region). Fratelli is the "make." Its an unofficial blend though, since Fratelli is not an Italian designated wine. My guess is it is much like a Valpolicella if it is red (corvina grape). The term Superiore is associated with this type of wine. It could also be an Amerone (same grapes different style). Bolla is a mass producer today, but made better wines back then. I cant make a call on the price, but I think the wine is past its prime.
I did find a 1971 and it said it should be drank within 5 yrs.
