You can easily spend $24/bottle, but many are in the $15-$20 range. Most wineries are aware of the heavy price pressures on wines and don’t really gouge customers. For a premium bottle of wine, expect to pay a premium price. But for a light, simple wine as a reminder of your trip, don’t expect to pay more than $10-$15. Fortunately, most wineries up there will be happy to give you a sample of their wines for free so you can be sure of what you’re getting. The Sierra foothills are famous for their red wines so be prepared for some really good red and don’t expect the same light whites or the same type of Cabernet’s that you find in the Napa valley. The wines are a little more hit and miss compared to the "main drag" wineries of Oakville-Rutherford-St. Helena, but mostly very friendly and happy to see visitors.
