Not necessarily. I like different wines from different regions. My favorite Sauvignon Blanc comes from New Zealand. My favorite Shiraz comes from SW Australia, but I tend to like Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. I also get a Chardonnay that comes from that region too. So it just depends on what your tastes are, what you like, and whether it comes from one place or another doesn’t make that much difference.
I think there are some great Napa wines out there, but apparently so do Napa winemakers, because their price reflects it. Of course there are some lemons from Napa too, just like any other place. I tend to shop for wines made in Sonoma and Alexander Valley, as their are wines from those regions that are every bit as good as some of the Napa wines for nearly half the cost most times. I also like a lot of New Zealand and Australian wines like the first answerer. I would add Italian and Chilean wines to that list as well. As far as wine goes, just drink what you like.
