My mom told me that Natukong is the God who protects a specific land and so, should be a deity of the locals. Whether this means that Natukong is a Malay deity or not is up to our imagination but like any God, He should be worshipped every day and not just on Friday. Well, we have never offer any pork to any Gods before but I know that wine is okay. Even on big occasions like CNY, we only offer chicken as a form of meat. Oh yes, pineapple is the food that we mostly offer to Natukong. Said that it will bring more ‘ong’ as the Cantonese name for pineapple is ‘wong nai’ which sounds like ‘wang lei’ in Mandarin which means ‘luck is ascending’.
yeap..he’s a a like i think a half chinese and hald malay land deity i guess……..I’m not very sure about the firday thing……….and yes,,i think it’ not allowed to offer him pork and wine..well,as you may know,he’s a half malay too..
dude my dad and his business frens offer beer to natukong man..
no problem!
Prayer offerings to the Datuk Kong should not include pork.
Many devotees pray on Fridays and also offer stout beer.
So, any kind of food offering is alright except pork.
Most of the time, the nasi kunyit with chicken curry is offered.
Even a cigar is lit for the prayer.
Natukong is a deity whc protects specific lands, ppl who work at the construction site usually pray to him for safety…
ppl in the village also pray to him as they need to enter estates to work… as he is a deity we pray to him everyday as a sign of respect and not onli on fridays…
we canot offer him pork… but wine eg stout and cigaratte can be offered to him…
pork can onli offered to "hu yea" the tiger deity… whc can normally be seen in the temple…( a structer of the tiger in a cave)
