Is the Napa Valley Wine Train worth it?
Hi All!
For my first valentine’s day with my girlfriend, i was looking at doing lunch on the Napa Valley Wine Train for 3 hours, 0.00. Is it worth it?
Is the food good?
Is the scenery good?
Basically, will I have a good time with her?
Thanks everyone!
Cheers!

You will have a good time.
The scenery is fantastic.
Is it worth it? It depends
I a car, you get exactly the same views on the road in a car and you can stop wherever you want including at any winery for a tour or for wine tasting (don’t patronize places that charge you for the tasting). You can also go east a few blocks and have a super drive through Napa Valley from the much less traveled Silverado Trail (less famous winery’s with very friendly people and many more free wine tasting rooms).
There are lots of places to eat all along Highway 29 (the main drag) from Yountville through St. Helena ranging from grocery stores where you buy your food and eat it picnic style to super fancy restaurants.
@ $100 each, you will not be disappointed and it will be a nice romantic ride. If you don’t want to stop at a winery and have no idea of the area, its a good "eat and drink tour". You can certainly do better with a little extra research online and your own car. The only catch is that if the weather is poor (it’s the rainy season now) you will be more comfortable in the train and on Valentine’s day weekend, the traffic on 29 can be really crowded and you would also be better off on the train with your date. A while back, I took my parents out there on Thanksgiving Saturday and it seemed as if everyone else in Northern California had the same idea
I didn’t think so. When we went the service was mediocre. The food was good but not outstanding. The cars were uncomfortably warm. The wine was good. The view is Napa. If you’ve been there before you won’t see much you haven’t before.
Yes! it’s costly but a day she will remember.. if not, look for a dinner cruise.
I’d say yes it’s worth it. I’ve gone on the train with my family for special occasions since I was a teenager, we always have a great time. Good atmosphere, great food and beautiful scenery of the Napa Vineyards. Have a great Valentines Day! Good Luck.
