Making Mead Wine, Can I add fruit flavours after fermentation?
I’ve just made my first batch of mead and it is fermenting now, after fermentation can I add flavours, using real fruits before I rack it?, or ideally should fruit flavours be added at the start. Also if I can add fruit after fermentation what else do I need to consider?
Thanks

You should add your fruit at the start. Adding fruit after fermentation can restart the fermentation process which you don’t really want. If you’re in the fermentation process now, you can still go ahead and add you fruit.
I’ve made meads with blueberries, apple, and figs and all have turned out great.
P.S. - Mead takes awhile to ferment and takes even longer to age well. Be prepared to be patient. I usually rack twice and then age for a year before bottling.
Mead takes so long to age that you could probably add fruit after fermentation, although most people start with it. I suggest using frozen fruit to avoid the necessity of boiling it. You will restart the fermentation.
