I have a bottle of Red Wine that was left at my house a few years ago, and has never been opened. Does this stuff go bad, or just "get better with age"? It says on the back of the label it is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, and 30% Zinfandel. I don’t know jack about wine, and thought about giving it to a friend but I don’t want to if it wouldn’t be drinkable now.

Any experts that can help me out?

I recived a bottle of wine as a gift and was planning on holding it till a special occasion, i don’t have an event in mind but thought i could hold out on drinking the wine till a event came along worth toasting. while telling a friend about this plan she said that some wines are ment to be had in that first six months while others do get better with time. so which wines can be held and which wines should be had right away?
it is an Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. thank you

I don’t know much about wine, but I found a bottle of Petite Sirah from 1990. It’s from Mirassou Vineyards, San Jose, California. By "I found", I mean I was cleaning out my basement and there it was. I have no idea where it came from. Anyway, is it any good? Should I just open it and find out?

Hi All,

I rented a limo bus for my birthday to take me and 16 of my friends wine tasting through napa valley. i was seeing if anyone out there knew of particular wineries that are exceptionally fun, above the rest. I am going with a lively, fun group straight out of college and we are looking to have a great time so keep that in mind when giving suggestions. Also, if you know of any free places, that is always appreciated!

Thanks all!!!

CHEERS!

We’re having an open house for my wife’s family to come and meet our 9 month old daughter. (Most live out of state). We’re serving appetizers on a come as you wish basis. We’ll be serving meatballs and cocktail wieners, a key lime cheese ball, and finger sandwiches as well as some desserts that others will be bringing. I’d like to offer some wine, but as I’m very ignorant to wine (I’m a beer man), I’d like some input. We do have a bottle of a sweet white wine and a bottle of red wine, but not sure what we should serve.

Any help is appreciated! Styles are most appreciated, as we’d like to serve some local things, but if you want to offer a brand name, I’ll take any suggestions. Thanks again.

We are doing a 21st Birthday Mother Daughter Wine Tour. I need to make 11 gift bags and I’m on a tight budget so I can’t do anything like gift cards in each, but I want to include as many cute gifts as possible. Everyone going on the trip is female, but a few of the younger women will not be bringing their mother so I don’t want to focus too much on that relationship but there will be a large age range of women. This is an all day event, we are visiting 8 wineries, stopping for a picnic lunch, and having desert, while watching the sunset at our Alma mater.

So far I was thinking:
The mix CD we will play in the van
Corkscrew
Gum/Mints

What do you think would be great to put in the gift bags for them to use during the trip and remember the experience afterwords.
