Places to stay & visit near San Francisco (Napa & Sonoma wine country)?
We’d like to visit CA (from NJ) and spend a few days in both San Francisco and wine country.
Can you suggest: time of year to visit, good bed & breakfasts/places to stay, places to east for dinner, wineries that are a "must-see," tours and/or other sights, etc.
Looking for places that are modest and affordable, good views, decent nightlife, etc. We are late 20’s to mid 30’s in age. Thank you.
Flower, you’ve never heard of 5 star hotels, or 6 apple hotels? We are looking for 3-4 stars, not the Ritz Carlton. Okay, negative Nancy.

In the Napa valley, there are many B& B’s but hare are a few: Calistoga, Cottege grove Inn # 707-942-8400, enchanted cottage # 707-942-9463 & the Bear Flag inn # 707-942-5534. In St Helena(more expensive then Calistoga) The Ink house # 707-963-3890, Oleander house # 707-963-8315 and in Napa Churchill manor # is 707-253-7733 and the 801 Inn # 707-224-3739. A must see in Napa valley is Castello de Amerosa a European stye castle that is unbelievable. It’s a winery too, of course.
I dont see what difference the time of year makes except you would be able use the outdoor pool in the summer. It is quite warm in summer over 85 degrees. In winter it is around 30 in the early am and around 60 later in the day. The Sonoma Mission Inn is famous. You can have a mineral bath and a mud bath there and also in Calistoga where our bottled water comes from.
Why do people always ask for affordable accommodations. There is no such thing here.
