Riedel glasses for white wine?
The Riedel Vinum brand of stemware offers numerous types of glasses for every type of wine. I need an all-purpose white wine glass. Which ones should I get?
Zinfandel/Riesling
Sauvignon Blanc
Chablis

I shared the Bed Bath & Beyond link only because all the types of glasses are listed there for comparison, and include pictures; also because I’m getting married and my question was asked with an eye toward my registry…if I were buying for myself I would certainly find them for less elsewhere. Thanks!

Pick the one that has the shape you find most appealing. There is a purpose behind the different shapes of the Vinum collection, but most people don’t have a palate sophisticated enough to tell the difference. You need a white wine glasses, red wine glasses, and champagne flutes. I also recommend high ball glasses for mixed drinks.
It does start to get absurd with all those glasses, doesn’t it? My theory is normally to err towards the large size, but these are so close in size, it doesn’t apply so much. They all seem to have the same size opening, just the bowl is a little different. I’d probably go with the Chablis - a slightly more elegant shape. I have them and like them - they feel a little larger because they are taller.
By the way, not sure if you gave the link to BB&B just for pics or if you plan on buying there, but those prices seem too high. I live in Los Angeles and buy my Riedel at a couple of local independent wine stores - The Wine House and Topline and they are definitely less. You might want to make a few calls around town to compare prices. And note that the same glass may be called a Chardonnay glass (to add to the confusion).
