Being that far south, it is pretty likely that they have the best temperatures to make outstanding reds. However, a lot of the final product depends on the grapes they are using and their winemaker’s abilities. Here’s a link to a travel website I use for finding wineries when I’m going on vacation to a new area. If you haven’t chosen a specific winery to visit yet, than this will help with your choices. Also, if they link to the winery’s website, check to see what they have won awards for because that tends to be a good indication of their products and abilities.

no they dont have very good wether for grapes. its too warm, but you might be suprised.
yes. I was very surprised. I got some sparkling and some really good reds.
I have never been to a New Mexico winery, but hope to go …. soon! However, I have tasted a couple of bottles which my friend said were "good". One was supposed to be mixed with tequila - it was terribly sweet and green! (I didn’t have tequila and don’t like sweet). The other wasn’t good. But I don’t know about all of them.
