In my country (New Zealand) they have a huge wine section in the supermarket, does everyone have that now? Haven’t been to Germany for 10 years but back then they did sell beer in McDonalds & spirits in little kiosks on the street, sort of like hot dog stands. Never saw anyone drunk though, so I guess they can’t have a binge drinking culture or teenagers that like to party would always be at McD’s.

I believe the story went something like this….

A rich man offered a poor man a large amount of money to stay in a secluded house for (i think) 10 years. The rich man would bring him all the necessities the man needed every year or so and bring other things such as tobacco, wine and books.

Thats about as much as i can remember but I would like to read it again. I’m pretty sure it was a short story and if anyone knows the title it would be much appreciated.

Im currently learning about wine. I have a book that goes from everything about making it, the grapes from different regions, tasting, studying the bottle and pairings but im still confused about some things. It offers a sort of grid for an example wine of when its at its peak, like in 10 years. But how do you know which wines are able to age and which are not and when its ready to drink. Its not like the bottle says drink in 5 years. I have a bottle - Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery Concord- that’s really sweet red and served chilled and the bottle says consume within 1 year. But then I picked up a bottle of Sutter Home Sweet Red California Sweet Red wine 2009 This is the first bottle i’ve bought that has a year on it, does that mean its already been bottle aged for awhile and should be drunk right away. will it be bad if i wait till the end of summer? and for when i buy bottles later that have different years how do i know when to lay them down and when to drink them. Please help I really want to learn about wine.

39 and married 10 years. In that time, she has put on about 90 pounds. She snores so badly that I sleep on the couch most nights. I’ve offered to work out with her, bought a treadmill and gym set, and she wont use them. Instead, she’ll watch TV all night while she eats a giant bowl of popcorn (with almost a stick of butter) and polishes of a liter of pop or bottle of wine.

It is a hand painted red wine glass. Hand painted with a really pretty flower. I thought of maybe filling it with Ferraro Roche chocolates or something. But I don’t want it to be an inappropriate gift.
I forgot to mention, I grew up with the teacher’s daughter. So I have known her for almost 20 years. But we’ve been out of contact for about 10 years.

This is from the night I proposed to my wife 10 years ago. Our 10th Anniversary is next week and I saved it. I want to surprise her, but don’t want it to look rookie.

I have a 24 bottle wine fridge, and I plan on storing some of the bottles I've acquired for a long time, 10 years or more. As long as I keep it plugged in and set at around 51-50 degrees, is there any forseeable problems from using it versus a real wine cellar?

I have a number of quality wines that I have been keeping at a controlled room temperature for 6-10 years. I have just now purchased a wine refrigerator. Is there any problem with moving these older wines from the room temperature to the cooler climate (of course without any drastic temperature change)? Or would I be better off keeping them at the same room temperature if I plan on drinking them within 2 years?
