I was invited to a wine tasting at a ritzy French restaurant with my boss- a powerful, sophisticated women in her mid 50’s. I am 22, and though we have become quite friendly I am very nervous. She has just gone through a divorce and is ready to start meeting new people. She has been going to lots of events like this around town, and she told me men don’t really approach her. She said she hoped bringing me would be fun, and maybe more men would come speak with us (I am young and pretty so I assume that’s her reasoning). She has very high standards when it comes to tastes, and though I am no box-of-wine drinker, my idea of "fine wine" is Kendal Jackson.
I am very nervous about tonight- what if she asks my opinion about a specfic wine?! Can anyone offer some advice on how to sound educated about wine when you aren’t? Maybe some phrases or words people use? Also, is it true you spit the wine out instead of swallowing? If you really like the taste can you swallow it? Do you drink both red and white, or stick with one?
Also, if you can advice on any other etiquette during a tasting it would be much appreciated!

I have submitted my resignation and my last day is next week. I get along pretty well with my current boss and leaving her behind is probably the hardest part. I’d like to get her a little goodbye/thank you gift. I know she likes wine, reading, and going out to her camper to relax in the warmer seasons.

I’m flying to Beijing soon to meet a ton of new people at the company I work. My boss asked me to bring some wine and chocolates she prefers, and it dawned on me that other people I meet might also appreciate some common American foods/drinks that are difficult to obtain in China (but obviously legal).

I am finishing up a really fantastic internship, and I want to get my boss a gift at the end of the summer. He was really a terrific boss, and I want to get him something nice. I am a biz school intern, so I have a higher pricepoint than the typical intern.
I was thinking of getting him a bottle of wine and a gift certificate to a restaurant, but are gift certificates tacky in this situation? What about getting him some company branded knicknacks and something else? Any original ideas would be appreciated!
