Hello wine lovers- We have a 3 litre bottle of 1993 Beaulieu Vineyard Georges De Latour Cabernet Sauvignon. I think my husband got it as a high school graduation present (back in 1995). It’s been in the basement until about a year ago when we had to move it to room temperature upstairs. It has some tiny drops of sticky, dark red residue peeking through the holes around the cork. Is it bad?

I have a bottle of Napa Merryvale 1997 that was given to employees of a Silicon Valley company in 1999 as part of an IPO celebration. The front label was removed and replaced with a message relevant to the IPO, but the back label is intact. Has the wine lost its value because of the removal of the front label or does this almost 15 year old Cabernet Sauvignon have some value?

I would like to put together a wine basket for my brother for x-mas who loves all kinds of wine a good cheeses.I live in a small town in Ohio so no access to imported stores, and I like to make it personal by not ordering a ready to go gift basket. So what good(not brake the bank) wines should I put in it,I know he loves Cabernet Sauvignon, and port, but I have no idea when it comes to names and don’t want to ask not to apoil the suprise. And what else besides the wine,I mean a mini wine rack or a single wine holder or a decanter?Cheese and cracker,or cheese and a nice cheese cutter set? What would make a perfect wine lover’s basket after all. Thanks in advance.

It’s a red table wine. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan and Counoise grapes. I’m not sure if this is any good. I just came across the bottle. Can anybody tell me if it’s drinkable, when it peaks or if it peaked, etc? Any information would be great.

A guy tries to impress his date with his knowledge of wine. He tells the wine steward to bring a bottle of 1985 Sterling Cabernet Sauvignon from the Carneros district. After tasting it, the young man berates the steward. "This is a 1992 vintage from the Diamond Creek vineyard in the Mayacamas range. Please bring me what I ordered."

Watching from the bar, an old drunk comes up to the table with a glass in his hand and says, "Can you tell me what this is?"

Winking at his date, the young man sips from the drunk’s glass.

"Christ, this tastes like piss!" he exclaims, spitting it out.

"Yeah," says the drunk, "but what year?"

Pinot Noir is generally considered to be the most ancient varietal on earth, cultivated since Roman times in Burgundy. That being the case, it’s likely Pinot Noir was also the varietal Romans cultivated and drank. Primativo (known as Zinfandel in California) is indigenous to Italy, so it’s possible they fermented that grape, as well. What my questions are leading to is this: what kind of wine would Christ have served at the Last Supper? Since he lived in the Middle East (in what is now Israel) it might have been Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon - the hot, arid climate would not have been conducive to Pinot Noir. Have any of you wine historians out there ever looked into this question?
