Before you tell me that’s a big no no, you need to know that i made this wine in 2 weeks from welch’s grape juice and it is stored in the original welch’s grape juice containers. its not like this a fine wine or anything close. im just wondering if the fridge will completely ruin the taste because a wine cooler is absolutely out of budget.
no tony. actually you just dont know what youre talking about. I did a lot of research and read 2 books. I feel pretty comfortable about not poisoning myself. thanks for your concern though.

If I leave a bottle of grape juice just sitting in my closet for a few months, would it go bad and be spoiled, or would it become alcoholic? I’m talking about store bought generic fruit juice.

vineyards, the question is, who was drinking all that wine? The caution of getting drunk and drunkenness is mentioned throughout the texts, Jesus performed the first miracle of his ministry by changing water into wine and bypassed the process of planting, growing, pressing the grape and fermenting. While I am not saying we should try to get drunk,I’m saying it is okay to drink a little wine, or beer if you prefer, and if they served beer after adult sunday school and church service, a lot more husbands would go to church with their wives on sunday, and there would be no more sunday ‘blue-laws’ or riffs between bars too close to churches! Just a thought for comment, so no lectures please!
Wine is not weak if made right1 ever hear of brandy? Yes the water was poor quality so wine or wine near grape juice was somewhat more pure and free of harmful content!
Martin S, yes there were many small grape patches, but also many elaborate vineyards with many wells and irrigation systems that are styled after to this day!
MickyGG, Jesus and his and our father are one, to you that seems to be some mystery!

My 8 year old daughter will be receiving her First Communion in May and the priest is insisting of having all the kids drink the same wine as all parishioners; NOT grape juice or other alternative. When I made my First Communion it wasn’t even offered which makes sense-these are 7 and 8 year old children. I understand the symbolism, but I feel this crosses the line. The children will not go up in a group so her missing the wine wouldn’t be incredibly noticeable. PS My husband is on board with our daughter drinking the wine as part of the ceremony.

If often hear it discussed in certain circles that the wine of the Bible was more akin to modern day grape juice than modern wine. (BTW, I have no idea how that could be, since grapes are covered with yeast (that’s the white film on the grape skin) and will ferment as soon as they are picked unless they are pasteurized and refrigerated).

The point of the question is, Noah gets really drunk on wine and passes out naked:

20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: 21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. 23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.

Yet, somehow, the wine is no longer wine when Jesus arrives on the scene. How is this?

Studies have consistently demonstrated that moderate consumption of alcohol and wine is statistically associated with a decrease in death due to cardiovascular events such as heart failure.

Is that just advertising for alcohol or is there actually a benefit that grapes don’t offer us already?

Polyphenols, antioxidants, and flavonoids are present in the grapes. Is the fermentation into alcohol and extraction into the alcohol of these substances helpful for our intake? The presence of (extra) yeast is a small plus i suppose? Or do the potentially beneficial substances like vitamin B12 break down during the making of the wine?

The only hint that wine beats grapes in one aspect is this (maybe): resveratrol is produced naturally by grape skins in response to fungal infection, including exposure to yeast during fermentation. As white wine has minimal contact with grape skins during this process, it generally contains lower levels of the chemical. Benefits of resveratrol have been suggested after animal studies (in mice, not men). Resveratrol is inactivated in the gut/liver, so most of it doesn’t reach the blood stream. So if at all to benefit from resveratrol in wine, one must sip it slowly, because absorption via the mucous membranes in the mouth can result in up to around 100 times the blood levels of resveratrol.

If you know more, let me know. Thanks!
No best answer to my question yet (please read the whole introduction too, answering yes on my title question doesn’t help). Not many people responding to the question, maybe there’s just no health benefit from wine over grapes, and maybe that’s just obvious to all of you. But more people drink wine without considering grapes (or grape juice without the dangers of alcohol). No fun in that said someone. Aren’t there other ways to have fun without having to wreck your health? Feel free to answer.
To Luacharman: how does alcohol help?

For my Biology class, we have to do a project where we pretend we own a vineyard and we have to make wine…I "picked" my grapes at the beginning of September cause the weather was warm and perfect. I know that right after picking them, you transport the grapes to a truck and water them down, there’s a reason for that but can someone explain why that is? Something about how the water makes the grapes plump (but not too much water so that the sugar content of the grapes go down). Then we go the winery to make the wine. But I’m confused because how much yeast and what solutions do I mix with the grapes to get the best wine? There’s something called brix that we add to the grape juice…I’m so lost. I don’t even drink! I wish I could say that all my grapes died, but I can’t, and I’d like some help from people who make wine.

ps. What’s the best spot to grow grapes? Where would you grown a vineyard?
I just need some ideas and percentages of solutions and yeast to add to the grape juice. I have to write up a lab on the whole thing.

I picked red grapes to make Merlot. That’s okay, right?
The 12 Days of Saturnalia: Haha, no you didn’t ruin my day. Actually I’m very lost, my question shows you just how much I know about making wine, which is next to none.

I’ll research wine making online.

Thanks you guys.

I went to the Biltmore House in NC and my mom wanted to go to the vineyards for the wine tasting that they have there. Me and my sister went and the lady had grape juice that was for underage people. We had some and it was INCREDIBLE!!! I want to know if there is anywhere where you can get a container, bottle, something of grape juice. Please only answer if you actually know.

In a previous question, numerous Christians noted that the 150 gallons of wine Jesus made at Cana was not fermented. Please address the following points below.

1. Every translations calls it wine, not juice. It the word meant grape juice, the translators would have used that word. None do.

2. People get drunk off wine in many places in the bible. The very first thing Noah does after leaving the ark is plant a vineyard, make wine, get drunk and pass out naked. (Genesis (:20-21). Lot gets so drunk on wine that both his daughters end up raping him over the course of two nights. (Lot 19:30-36)

There are many references to drunk people in the bible from wine (not grape juice).

So what is you case that the 150 gallons of wine Jesus made for this party was non-alcoholic, besides the fact it makes you uncomfortable?
Mim:

Yes, the did have a different word.

I am looking to use a grape juice concentrate because at this time of year I cannot get fresh grape juice where I live. I am looking at making a few batches of wine, but some of the concentrates I’ve found online and elsewhere seem to have had vitamin C (ascorbic acid) added to it. I know this is sometimes added to white wines as an antioxidant, but usually after the fermentation process is complete. Will having this additional/added vitamin C in my juice prior to fermentation/racking stages affect the end product? I want to make sure that my yeast will not stagnate and that the flavor won’t be wholy comprimised. Any and all answers are appreciated, and this community is always so very helpful. Thanks!!
