i have no internet connection in my linux OS,so i cant download wine from the software center and im frustrated from installing dependencies for wine.
I was given a computer, it has ubuntu running system on it, Linux, but can’t seem to download my yahoo instant messenger, when I try to download it, it will download okay, but when I try to send a message It says there is a deficiency in wine. Does anyone know how to get past this or what should I do so I can download ym. It also says that when I tried to download the AVG free anti-virus software. Not sure what else I can’t download since I just got the computer today! Thanks for your help!
Okay, I am trying t download pidgen, but it won’t do that either, I must be doing something wrong, don’t know anything about this system, can someone walk me through this process? Thanks
I wanted to install the software but I have no idea how to go about it. I have Sun Virtualbox for XP, as well as WINE.
Any help??
Tell me what specs or whatever you’ll need. I’m a noob at Linux and while I can do some things, installing windows-based things from CD are confusing and difficult for me.
Thank you!!!
Hi guys
I want to be able to run an application called AutoData on my IPAD 2. As far as I am aware it is Windows only…..now i am aware of an app called parralells mobile, which essentially from what i can gather lets you connect to another Windows based PC through a virtual machine over the internet! But as i do not have the luxury of an internet connection at my garage, this will not be possible. Although i suppose it could be done over my 3g connection, the reception at work is absolutely rubbish!
Can i run something like WINE for Linux….. is there such a thing? I love my IPAD…..just would love it even more if i could get it to run this software….can i run a light version of VMWARE on my IPAD??????
Thanks for looking
I have linux on a dual boot system. I want to use some of my windows software in linux without having wine reinstall them to windows. how do I use them
I do not want an iPad.
However, I want a tablet computer. What other kids are available at this time. I suppose it mostly needs to be as functional as a netbook, I don’t want a giant laptop. I’m even willing to use a Linux OS if I must, and then just run WINE or something. But I’m looking for something small, easy, and portable. So I can leave my giant laptop at home and just grab this on the go. And yes, I’m a college student. I don’t need massive specs, I may watch movies on it (dvd player will not be required), but I won’t be playing games or doing 3d software or anything. Anyway, I’m open to your suggestions. Thanks.
I do not want an iPad.
I wish to migrate to Ubuntu 8.04, because I think it would benefit my programming education, and I would get some needed computer literacy skills, but I believe I’ll have problems with Linux from the first time I booted the Live CD - no, it’s not about my files - I don’t have much to migrate:
1: Are there Linux versions of Adobe software? Will I be able to use Photoshop?
2: What’s the difference between a GNU freeware CD Burner and a shareware version of Nero? Will I be able to do the same actions with Linux as I will with Windows?
3: Does Linux have problems connecting with WiFi? I’m used to the Windows Vista Wireless connection setup application, so to me, I don’t know any other way to connect than just press a few buttons.
4: Will I have the same ease of use with Linux as I will with Windows? Will I be able to play DVDs and CDs? Will I still be able to use iTunes?
5: What are the limits of WINE? Can I run World of Warcraft, .exe files, and Second Life?
Sorry, I’ve been brainwashed by Windows :D.
6: Can I change the system language and typeset as freely as I do in Windows?
7: How often do errors occur in Linux? Will I finally be given a break from the everyday errors that I simply have to shake my head to?
rodro.bistri: Well, at the moment, it’s hard to choose a best answer… but since you asked nicely, and there’s one top contributer posting - I’ll consider you :D.
I am working an engineering internship where we were taught SAP and use it regularly.
The computers we use are old, and are set up so that 4 (four) users can use one tower.
That being said, if one of these other idiots has a lot of windows open or has 15 tabs of Face Book open in their browser, it slows the system down considerably.
Since some of the transactions are specific to the company, I can’t just install a new version of SAP on my laptop, but rather I feel that I need to "Pirate" the software installed on the computer I use, then transfer the data onto Linux (Ubuntu) and install it using wine so that I get the exact same setup.
This ONE computer the FOUR of us use is almost always at 80% load, and uses about 2.5Gb of memory out of the 3Gb available. I’m sick and tired of telling people to log off Face Book so that I can do my work.
I’m going to ask the IT team for help, or if they will give me a version to use during my internship here.
Regardless of what they say, if this is possible, I would like to know how to do it even if it’s just for the fun of knowing it, whether I use it or not.
Thanks for any help.
Basically I want to steal software from windows and install it on linux.
I know it’s illegal which is why I won’t do it on the company computer without permission,
But I will do this on my computer at home with the software I HAVE paid for.
Any info, and/or helpful google searches would be great.
Like you can run Windows programs on Linux through WINE?
Is there any software like WINE for Windows that can make Apple Mac programs run on Windows?
Sorry, this is awful, but i’m pretty sure the book is wrong, but this topic is fairly new so…. i could just be wrong.
2x-y=1
3x+2z=13
3y+4z=23
Determinant of the matrix (coefficents of x,y and z) is zero, so it’s not a single point, i just can’t get it
where p = lambda - so a paramater for a general point on the line, the book gives this answer:
x=2p+4
y=4p+1
z=-3p+5
ALSO! if anyone knows of some linux/wine-working software that’d let me plot 3 planes, i can plot f(x,z) but not…. these, so yes,
i’ve spend 3 pages worth much failed drawings,…. i’m pretty sure the books wrong but if it’s right, this is why i ask in the first place.
thanks
