I entertain frequently, but we’ve found that our guests generally prefer wine and beer, so I rarely offer hard liquor. I’ve invited some new friends over for dinner, and one fellow is a Scotch drinker. I don’t know anything about Scotch!

I don’t want to spend a lot of money, since it’ll probably just sit in our liquor cabinet — but I don’t want to look like a cheapskate with a crummy brand. Any suggestions? Is it possible to buy a small bottle of something respectable at a decent price???

Thank you!

We are having a medium sized (50 or so guests) anniversary party. I wanted to save a bit of money on corkage fees so I thought of serving larger bottles of wine. Do you think this will look tacky vs. regular sized wine bottles?
Um… no. No twist caps.

Where is the best place to stay in Napa Valley?
I am planning a luxury retreat for 10 key customers to Napa Valley. These people have the money to do whatever they want so we need to impress. I am not very familar with where to stay and what to do in Napa other than drink wine, play golf and go to spas so would like some recommendations on the most high end, luxury accommodations as well as high end winery tours, etc. In addition, I would like to find a location that has a full service, high end spa. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I’m about to reserve seats for Hawksley Workman’s show at the City Winery, but the people in my party are under 21, so I don’t want to waste the money if we can’t get in. Does anyone know whether it varies by show, or if the venue is all ages, 18+, or 21+?

I tried to call them, but was unable to get through the automated system to an talk to an actual person. Any help would be appreciated!

Im wondering if anyone has heard of any California cases wining in court:
I ownd my house and purchased everything in it before getting married. I understand that anything purchased during marrige is considered community property but he was never put on the house or loan. My husband has died leaving 2 children and his ex wife is taking me to court because she thinks she can have half of the house and everything in it that is mine that I paid for with my own money before we were ever married. Does she have a case?

Thanks in advance!

I’m leaning toward Brunello and Montrachet (not sure which Bru, probably Ramonet Batard for the Monty), or maybe DRC and Y’Quem… or maybe a Grande Dame and Turley Hayne Vineyard Zin…. mmmmmmmm
Wowo - you guys don;t seem to understand the concept of "Money no object." You pick a Sauternes, but not Y’Quem??? That makes no sense at all.

I’m making a risotto milanese. The recipe specifies I should use a dry white wine. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of wine specifically I should get? I never drink white wines and so I’m white wine clueless! I don’t want to spend a whole lot of money; I’m cooking with it, after all. Any advice is great!
Thanks everyone!
I ended up with a 10 dollar pinot grigio (that actually came from Italy, wonder of wonders). It seemed like a good compromise. I don’t drink much white wine (just red), so thanks for all your suggestions. :)

Hey,

I think I have finally lost all patience with vista. each new version of windows seems to get progressivly worse! arggghh!

anyway, ive decided that ive had enough and i think linux (prob ubuntu) may be the way forward…

id get a mac, but sadly im not made of money :(

Is linux easy to install and opperate for a modern (but not especially "techie") person such as myself?
also, for third party commercial software - is wine a good system for installation?

thoughts appreciated

I am looking for a wine of the month club that will allow you to choose Chardonnay only instead of white? Don’t really like Pino’s and don’t want to waste money getting them.

I can’t tell one wine from another but I’m having a very important dinner party and want to offer these two wines. I don’t want to just go out and spend a lot of money on the assumption that more expensive wine is automatically better. Suggestions anyone?
