I am fairly new to wine and bought a wine rack and want to start my collection of it for special occasions or just for the hard day at work kinda thing. I am into Red Wines more then White although im not rich!! What would you suggest for a good tasting Red Wine to always keep around??? I do not like REALLY dry wines I had bought a cheap bottle of "Fat Bastard" and it was EXTREAMLY dry and had to be one of the worst ones ive ever had. Thank you for your help!

I like a Meridian Savignon Blanc vintage 1998. I also like a dry red wine by Turning Leaf vintage 2005.
Be very specific. I’m asking this for a reason. This is not trivial pursuit !!!

Alright wine experts, I need to start developing a pallet for wine so I can have a good idea about what I am talking about when at friends houses and when picking some out at a grocery store/ cellar. How should I start? If you can, please be specific to the brand and type, don’t just say some sort of white or red wine. Also, try to make it cheap for a bottle (under )

Hey guys,

I am thinking about buying a portable wine cellar to store the wines my friends gave me. I know red and white wines needs to be in different tempature for storage but i am not sure if I can place them into the same wine cellar? I see there are dual temperature wine cellar but they stores like 40 to 100 bottles ! I am not a big drinker and don’t wanna spend that kinda money. anyone has any info or knows if I can just get one of those 6 to 9 bottles wine cellar and have both white and red wine in it together in the same tempature? Thanks

My dad likes Vampire wine (from when they were grown in Transylvania, not the current California vineyard). He also likes Evil Wine (http://winelibrary.com/wines/38393-2006+Evil+Cabernet+Sauvignon+750ML) . However, both of these varieties seem to be hard to locate. Does anyone have any recommendations on what wine I should purchase instead? I am looking for a red wine.

Empirically I am coming to the conclusion that the longer a red wine takes to open up after uncorking, the better will evolve by keeping it in the cellar. Experts talk about structure (alcohol/tannin/acid balance) but this seems quite subjective. And, of course some just go with the wine’s reputation to age well, but this can vary from vintage to vintage. Do you have other ways of assesing a wine’s potential to age?
