Hi, I have been invited for a dinner by an elite French family. The couple is in the mid-ages and they have a kid about 1.5 years old. I am really not sure what gift I should buy them such that it does not go out of their culture and is appropriate. I am thinking of red wine, but not sure what to look for regarding specifications. Like
1. How much vintage it should be (2008 or less?),
2. What should be the ideal range of price in terms of Euros..

Also, I would appreciate if anybody can tell me a good place in Paris to buy good high quality wine..

If wine is not the appropriate gift, please suggest another..

I need some help finding a wine that I’ll like. I know very little about wine and am, therefore, having trouble finding one. There are a few wines that I really enjoy, but they’re hard to find online and in my local liquor stores. I’m trying to find something a little more accessible. Here are my favorite wines:

Stella Rosa Il Conte D’Alba: its a reds blend wine made in California. Is sweet and fruity

Moscato Rubino: red muscat that is very sweet and fruity.

Alba Vineyards blueberry: fruit wine that is very sweet.

My main thing is that I’m not a true red wine drinker because I only like the sweet red wine. I can’t stand the bitter taste in most red wines. I DON’T like port, sherry, white zinfandel, ice wines, or any other white wines. Please only suggest really sweet red wines. If possible name a specific wine, not just a variety.

Other than the obvious of color that is… I have always wondered why we serve white wine chilled and red wine at cellar room temp. Also, what element in red wine allows it to keep for so much longer(uncorked) than a white wine?

I spilled red wine on a white top while over somebody’s house. They put it in the washing machine for me & when I went to take it out, I noticed change in the bottom of the washing machine and offered to take it out. But they informed me the copper in the coins helps to remove stains. The wine came out but I am wondering if it was really from the change or because I washed the top immediately.

Because i have asked many people this question and the only answer i have come up with is: it tastes better. But surely taste is a very personaly thing? And i prefer cold red wine, i was just wondering if there was any other reason.
