My friend told me this and she apparently said she got "drunk" in France. She lies alot though, is it true that in France you can drink at any age. Also, another friend told me they offer you beer or wine at restaurants there. Is that true too?

This a wine newbie question. Sometimes if I like a wine we ordered at a restaurant, I note its label - type, year, name of winemaker etc. However, there seem to be 1,000s of wine ‘labels’ or brands. So I can never find the same label again at another restaurant?
So the question is, is it worth remembering the label of a wine I liked given that most restaurants have a very diverse wine list?
Do even people who are into wine recognize specific wines on a restaurants wine list? Or, do you simply go by, grape, region and vintage?
Why is wine so important ?
Why isn’t it considered just a beverage ?
Why do some bottles sell for so much money while others at grocery stores ?
Why do expensive restaurants take wine really seriously with cellars and wine experts ?
How come wine is the only beverage that gets this much attention ?
I’m heading out to the Santa Barbara wine country this weekend. Are there any must see winearies, vineyards, or restaurants? We’re staying at in Solvang, so any places around that area would be great.
I work for two different restaurants and on a slow night, either one will go through 15 - 25 bottles of liquor and wine. On a busy night it can be up to 50 or more. I asked my boss and he said the people that pick up their beer bottles don’t recycle liquor bottles. Is there any place that will recycle liquor and wine bottles?
I’ve heard alot about this card…is it worth it? Says then each tasting is only 10 cents, which sounds great. I’ve seen the site with participating stores in the downtown area which is good to know. Also, do a lot of restaurants waive the corkage fee if we have this card? Does that mean most restaurants allow you to bring your own wine in? Thanks everyone…
I’m representing a winery in CA, I want to know who I can contact to get our wines at Disneyland clubs, restaurants or hotels?
Any recommendations as far as lodging, the best airport to fly in/out of, restaurants and vineyards to visit?
As far as the hotel goes, I’d like something economical but clean. Maybe 200 per night? And I’ll be trying to secure a reservation to French Laundry, as I’ve been to Per Se in NYC and figure i should try Keller’s other place.
Thanks!!
I have to design a business plan at my business program, its a competition, we came up with a fancy drink offered at restaurants. Something fruity or tea like. Our goal is to make it popular just like wines, for people who do not drink. Would people who do not drink be interested in something like that? Same fancy glass bottles, no alcohol, all natural meaning organic….our plan is to make it national. its just a competition.
I will be in SF for a few days and plan to drive up to the Napa area does anybody know of a winery that allows self guided tours? I really just want to enjoy the views and landscape without having to be in a tour group. Also any good restaurants for lunch in the area?
