Hello, I know Chicago is notoriously strict for ID age checks in bars/clubs/restaurants re. alcohol (friends in their late 50s had to show ID to get wine in a restaurant, and other friends aged late 40s have to automatically show ID to get into bars). Maybe it’s the same throughout Illinois, I don’t know (I know it’s not that bad everywhere in the USA).
I’m not in my 40s or 50s but I have a UK photo driving licence and will be spending a few weeks in Chicago. I don’t want to carry my passport around all the time, so I’m hoping places will accept a non-Illinois licence. What do you reckon?
I got offered a job to sell sake and French wine to restaurants in the Philadelphia area. Is this a tough market to get into? I have no clue as to how hard this kind of job can be. I have sold cars before, so selling isn’t a problem. I’m more interested in the demand for sake considering I know no one who drinks it!
I am designing a fine wine label and packaging for a graphic designing program in college. I am underage, 20 so unfortunately I can’t purchase or drink any alcohol.
I was wondering, what kind of "red" wine do you guys as the audience of age ranging from 30-55 like to drink? What does it taste like?
What is it that attracts you? The image? The name? What makes you pick it up a specialty wine store or purchase it at restaurants?
i had come across a website that you can buy mixed bottles of wine from cases that had been damaged during delivery. if the labels on the non-broken bottles were ruined in any way, the restaurants wont take them, so this company lets you buy them at a discounted price.
Hi, you all! I am moving to Chicago in about six weeks, to take a faculty position at a school in the Hyde Park area. Is that a good place for a young-ish, single, academic type to live? Are there other suggestions for great neighborhoods? I want to be in the city, but still need trees around! I’m kind of past the stage of needing late-night bars and clubs, but need things like great coffee shops and restaurants, as well as a nice place to get a glass of wine. Also, while I’m no chicken, I do want to feel relatively safe… Thanks for any advice you have to offer!
I’ve been lucky enough to eat at some of the nicest restaurants like the Los Olivos Cafe, Hitching Post 2, AJ Spurs, etc when I make the track up to Solvang several times a year. However this time I want to try something new and less expensive so I was hoping somebody had some hidden gems I can share with my friends over a nice dinner.
Solvang, Los Olivos, Buelton, and Santa Ynez area
I go up there at least 3 times every year so I will definitely check it out
My friend told me this and she apparently said she got "drunk" in France. She lies alot though, is it true that in France you can drink at any age. Also, another friend told me they offer you beer or wine at restaurants there. Is that true too?
This a wine newbie question. Sometimes if I like a wine we ordered at a restaurant, I note its label - type, year, name of winemaker etc. However, there seem to be 1,000s of wine ‘labels’ or brands. So I can never find the same label again at another restaurant?
So the question is, is it worth remembering the label of a wine I liked given that most restaurants have a very diverse wine list?
Do even people who are into wine recognize specific wines on a restaurants wine list? Or, do you simply go by, grape, region and vintage?
Why is wine so important ?
Why isn’t it considered just a beverage ?
Why do some bottles sell for so much money while others at grocery stores ?
Why do expensive restaurants take wine really seriously with cellars and wine experts ?
How come wine is the only beverage that gets this much attention ?
