I have a bottle of Portuguese red table wine which was a wedding gift. The dark bottle is at least 5 years old and has been sitting on a shelf in my kitchen. I’m unsure if it may have required a different storage atmosphere (cooler conditions, darker area) Is it still ok to drink?

I am thinking about buying a portable wine cellar to store the wines my friends gave me. I know red and white wines needs to be in different tempature for storage but i am not sure if I can place them into the same wine cellar? I see there are dual temperature wine cellar but they stores like 40 to 100 bottles ! I am not a big drinker and don’t wanna spend that kinda money. anyone has any info or knows if I can just get one of those 6 to 9 bottles wine cellar and have both white and red wine in it together in the same tempature? if i had a ton of wine, where would i store them. Im gonna make myself a wine rack for DT, can some of you tell me problems with wine bottles and their storage.
I recently shipped my wine from professional storage in CA to my home in FL. A friend said that I should now let it rest for 3 months minimum before drinking, that it has to settle back down. I think that is silly because it will be dumped into a decanter before it is drank anyway.
Does anybody know if there is truth to having it rest for 3 months? If so, Why?
WHY????? Can anyone tell me that wine tastes different after long plane flights rather than resting???
I had some leftover table-red wine from a recent party (about a case and a half). It accidently got stored at room temperature for a week instead of in the basement. The bottles were screw tops and the wine was unopened. Some of the bottles had been previously chilled during the party. When I opened one of the bottles today the wine seemed slightly brown and tasted off. I didn’t think it could have gone bad so quickly. Is this a storage issue or could the wine have already been bad? THANKS!!
I have two choices for storing my wine (for a week or so):
1) store in the refrigerator, where it will reach very cool temperatures (40 degrees)
2) store in the cabinet, where 85 degree temperatures are reached during the day (70 degrees at night)
Also, how does opening and resealing the wine affect storage, if at all?
I am a cabinetry ditricutor and have been looking for sometime a source that would have a storage unti for wine that could be used in a base cabinet ….must be a pullout system…wire would be nice. The bottles should sit at an angle to prevent them sliding out. Anything would be nice really.

I have just started to collect wines. Rather buy expensive wine on sale. I kon't know anything about wine, it just started calling to me. I don't think I have had a glass of wine in 3 months. I do not have a wine cellar or wine rack. Should wine stand up or lay down during storage? What temperture? Should I keep it in the refridgerator? I love looking at the bottles. Have I become weird?
