What brand of wine should I give for an very special gift?
I would like to give my parents a nice bottle of wine for a gift. They are paying for my wedding and they are wine people so I want to get them something special that they would normally not buy for themselves. Maybe something around 0-0/bottle? I would also like the brand to be something that people who are into wine will know about. Any suggestions? Red or White, it does not matter.

If you’re prepared to spend up to $150, and its a gift around a wedding, I’d get them a good Champagne. Everyone likes Champagne.
Wines (red or white) at that price point can be very complex wines that are really a matter of personal taste. I’m a wine person as well and I rarely buy Champagne for myself.
You can get a pretty good bottle of Champagne for $150. Buy a Premier Cru or Grand Cru from a label like Moet & Chandon, Veuve Cliquot, Taittinger, Bolinger, Pol Roger or Mumm. The last few years of Dom Perignon have been inconsistent. Personally, I like Krug and Lanson, but they’re less well known - though you can get a good bottle of Krug or Lanson for under $80.
Each label will have Champagnes much more expensive than you want to spend. Just look for Premiere Cru or Grand Cru in your price range and it’ll be fine.
Blue Nun!
Both Opus One (USA) & El Nido (Spain) are right in that price range and are very good wines.
Cheers!!!
I agree with the champagne answer. But an ageable Cabernet wouldn’t be a bad choice either. At your price range, you have lots of good Bordeaux and cabernet choices (although Opus wouldn’t be on my list - too common and over priced). If your parents have a bias to either cabernet or champagne, that would be the way that I would go. Get them something that they would really like.
Have a great wedding.
