What happens to unopened wine left outside in winter?

I accidentally left an unopened bottle of wine in the trunk of my car for two days. It’s intended as a Christmas present for someone who really likes wine. Will it be okay or is it ruined? It’s been freezing cold for the last week here, so it’s not like it’s been in the heat. But I heard either temperature extreme is not best for wine. What should I do?

In case it matters, it’s a Pinot Noir.
