What is a good gift for a friend who is leaving for Florence Italy to study cooking, wine and cheese?
Something that she can pack and take with her but that she might use while there… Any thoughts or help?

a cookbook by that italian girl on food network
A guide of the main restaurants there.
a bottle of Milk of Magnesia. It will enable her to flush her pipes after she eats all of that cheese.
An apron. Look online. There are lots of cool ones with different themes. I got my sister one with lobsters all over it.
A journal to keep note of events going on in his/her life.
Conversion table,everything from cooking to driving. Maybe even a language translator.
maybe a map of florence and an italian dictionary,a small pocketbook
A book that translates English to Italian might come in handy.
A camera and a journal. A chef’s hat or apron maybe?

One of those mini recorders so your friend can record all her thoughts, experiences, and even recipes she learns over there. How exciting for her!!!
A cooking gadget/tool that you can only get here. but make sure it’s mechanical or runs on batteries because they do not have the same electrical outlets.
a diary and a note book. To keep track of what is done and to take notes of recipes.
Expensive knives like JH Hienkles, or quality measureing cups ans spoons and rubber spatulea, also meatal tongs cook stuff you know. If all else fails get them the "Joy of Cooking" a good book for cooks.
A blank cookbook she can write all her recipes in.
A ton of postcard stamps and an address book with all of her friends’ information.
A novel about a female making it on her own in Italy, or some other story line that is fitting.
A gift certificate (a huge one that a large group contributes on) for a store over there that sells cookware and the like.
A beautiful wine rack.
