What is a very nice wine to give as a 21st birthday gift?
I know nothing about wine, my brother & sister-in-law are wine people, my nephew will be 21 in a few weeks. I want something very special, maybe from his birth year. Please help. Thank you in advance.

I like the idea of getting a wine from their birth year. Pricey as ^&$* but how cool! I would do a vintage port from his birth year. Or I would get him a wine that ages great and tell him that you’ll be there to drink it with him on his 31st birthday. A bordeaux or Chateauneuf du pape. But if they are not into wines, really, you’d be setting him/her up for dissapointment.
I would go to the liquor store and ask their advise.

A good concord wine a nice choice. My favorite is Fireside Winery Serenade and it is a hit with many new wine drinkers. Serenade has a nice flavor but is not too sweet either so it is a perfect blend for people who just start drinking wine. Problem is Fireside Winery is only a few years old so they don’t sell aged wine yet. Most good aged wines are dry and lack the sweet flavor that new wine drinkers like.
I would suggest this wine if it’s available in your place - a Rosso Novellino
Trust me I don’t mean to sound prudish, but isn’t there something else that you can give him as a present. Why alcohol?? But if you are dead set on doing it. I think its a great Idea to give him a wine from his year of birth, he could keep it for notalgia sake…
