Please know that Ontario now has a new wine area. In addition to Niagara appellation: the peninsula into Lake Ontario where are Picton and Cherry Valley. I do not know if the wines are good. If you really want to go in January (because it is cold at that time of the year), go the last weekend of January for the Ice Wine Festival. Niagara makes the most consistently outstanding icewines out of all the wine producing countries in the world so if you like sweet wines, this is a treat for sure. However, if sweet wines are not your thing (and that's fine because most people don't like them), than I would suggest either late April or anytime in May.
