What shipping carriers will ship wine as a gift? (no not USPS, UPS, or Fedex).?
Alright as I am learning about wine laws and shipping laws, I am hearing that DIRECT shipments of wine are regulated and often prohibited - but gift shipments (indirect shipment) are not. HOWEVER, the US Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS do not ship wines from consumer to consumer. Does anybody know who DOES (I do not want to lie about what is in the package).
PS: There is no way direct ship laws will allow me to send this wine direct from the source to the destination and this winery does not sell its wine through other retailers online or in person.
The ONLY way I can get my hands on this wine is if I order it from the winery as a gift to a person who then will "gift" it back to me.
And add Greyhound and DHL to the list of carriers who don’t do it.

The answer to this depends on the the state the recipient lives in.
There are three possible results:
1. The state allows out-of-state shipping of alcohol.
2. The state allows out-of-state shipping of alcohol from a winery IF PURCHASED BY THE CUSTOMER ON THE PREMISES AT THE TIME OF SALE.
3. The state does not allow out-of state shipping of alcohol AT ALL.
The US Supreme Court has ruled that those states banning or restricting alcohol shipments are in violation of Federal commerce laws, however, it takes a lawsuit or action from the state legislature to actually overturn those laws. Thus, it is going very slowly.
These laws affect you the customer as well as the wineries who want to sell to you. Theoretically, you are guilty of bootlegging by shipping it.
In short: You can be dishonest and box it yourself and ship it by your preferred carrier. If it makes you feel better, mark it as "laboratory test samples" as even dry states allow alchohol to be shipped for testing rather than drinking. Or hope that those dry states get with the act and change their laws and buy local.
