A good winery name, in my opinion, should have about three syllables, total. "Crane Vineyards", for example. Or "Napa Fields"…etc. It should not be called something irrelevant like "Chateau Smith" if it is not in France! It should reflect the history or goals of the winery, something that you can tie together with all of your marketing.
In the Tasting Room, you must have friendly staff! Knowledgeable about the wine as well. And passionate about YOUR wine. Everything should have the logo on it! It doesn’t need to be fancy, but must be neat and clean, dust free, well stocked, and in good repair. Again, reflecting on that special marketing "gimmick" you have found for the wine.
The "marketing gimmick" could be the winery’s history, goals, dream, dog or location, but it MUST BE UNIQUE! And it must be reflected in everything that you do. =)
Best of luck! …& Cheers!!
I like winery names that tell me something about their style or appellation (region). It may just be the nearest river or mountain, but it tells me where they grow their grapes. If they buy their grapes from the co-op, the name could be anything!
A tasting room should provide a variety of wines to taste, maybe picnic supplies, and a nice little lawn or patio to relax on!
How about "Three Sister’s WHINERY" ??
Then put out little bottles of Midol next to the wine glasses.
Hahaha.
"Coq au vin" could be a name.
In a tasting room, there should be cheeses and other fruits, and of course the wine.
Vin Gniaule it means wine spirits in french, sound very upscale. I would think if it’s a French/Italian wine, decorations depicting those countries. I would think comfortable leather chairs, small tables to set your selections on. Labels as coasters for the glasses. They let the tester keep the coaster as a reminder, maybe the coaster can tell you something about the wines. Vats are really cliche but perhaps shelves of wines. Most of all I expect to see a very knowledgeable vintner to answer my questions.
I expect to see a tastefully decorated room with a selection of cheeses and crackers available for sale. Also, a selection of glasses, corkscrews, and other wine paraphernalia.
I also expect the help in the tasting room to be quite knowledgeable about the wines they are offering for tasting.
As for a name… hmmm…. how about "Nectar of the Grape"?
