What’s a good wine for a gift?
I don’t know much about wine. Should I get something else? or could anyone indicate a good wine or something I could buy online?
I don’t want to end up buying a cheap wine or a 0 bottle. So what’s a reasonable price? Any specific brands?

shiraz- any brand
many states do not allow alcohol to be sent through the mail
A great gift is ice wine, its a little more expensive but it is a real treat.
Depends how much you want to spend, and where you are. Wolf Blass Yellow label has a good rep, but is overpriced. Wyndham Estates is nice, too. Both are higher-end brand name Australian wines.
In white wines, I’ve never gone wrong with a Gewurtztraminer…
Icewine is a very nice elegant gift but it is a bit pricey. Depending on where you are, you may also have a limited availability too. You could try a bottle of bubbly instead - either a true Champagne or a reasonably priced sparkling from Canada, the US or even Italy (it’s called Prosecco in Italy). If you just want a regular table wine, try a red wine that is easy to drink and doesn’t require a meal with it. For a red wine, I would suggest a Merlot or a Pinot Noir. Even Gamay Noir would be nice for a change. If you have a wine shop in your area, go there before you start buying online. The staff in the store will be able to help you make a good selection which is harder to do when buying online.
A good bottle of red wine is the best gift ever.
Im italian and i can tell you that always worked.. Cabernet franc.. great red wine. you can fin it in almost every liquor store..
Santa Margharita Pinot Grigio
Champagne is a nice gift
Some states do not allow alcohol to be shipped in to or out of the state. If you are wanting to buy someone a bottle of wine find out if they prefer to drink red, white or blush. Then go to a local liquor store and ask them what a good wine in your price range is.
a bottle of merlot
Some of my favorites I’ve received as gifts are Rabbit Ridge cabernet sauvignon (2003), Smoking Loon chardonnay (2004), and a Montagne Saint Emilion (2003). The last one came from France so might be a little harder to come by . . .
The answer depends on who the wine is for. Wine does make a great gift….it comes in a wide range of prices and it is great for male or female. Wine makes a good housewarming gift, hostess gift, gift exchange at work, for youself and for your friends. If someone does not personally drink wine, they still can offer it to a guest when they are entertaining.
If you know what type of wine the person is interested in, buy that type of wine. Around the holidays a sparkling wine is always nice. I would suggest looking for a wine that is a little bit unusual…maybe a wine from a different country. New Zealand has some great white wines that would be not just the same old wine most people get and they are reasonably priced.
Australian has some great shiraz.
