Where do I download WINE for Ubuntu?
I know that’s the software I need to download programs for Windows on Ubuntu, I just don’t know where to download it from?
Thanks to all who answer.

Hi there,
Look in the application manager for Wine and download it. The app manager will check your system and make sure all the dependancies are met.
It may be a little hard to find but it is there in Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Just look in all the libraries until you find it.
I have tried it and some applications work but most of the Windows applications did not work for me using Wine. Virtual Box might work better than Wine (I never tried VB I just went back to Windows because Linux was not worth the trouble)
Hope this helps,
Al
Like almost all programs in Ubuntu, you don’t download it from random places on the Internet. Ubuntu has a package manager, Synaptic, which stores over ten thousand programs optimized to run on Ubuntu and it will also take care of updating all of them. You can find the Synaptic Package Manager in the System menu. If you prefer to use Wine’s development release (released every 2 weeks, so it’s more up-to-date but things could stop working at any point in time), there are instructions to add the Wine project’s Personal Package Archive to Synaptic on the Wine website.

Pick the version of WINE that is right for your version Ubuntu and follow the instructions.
