Which wine is good for a dinner party gift?
I want to take a bottle of wine for a dinner party gift. Which one is good? I am looking for something that’s cheap and a reasonable quality. It’s basically for a friend’s dad. It’s just a very informal party, a get-together rather.
Also when I present the bottle to the host, is it considered ok to give it with the paper wrap or it doesn’t matter?

I would give the wine in a decorative wine bag (you can find cute ones at dollar stores) or not in any bag at all.
Some good choices:
Beringer 2005 Knights Valley Alluvium Blanc - White Wine
A wonderful blend of Semillion and Sauvignon Blanc. The 2005 Alluvium Blanc exchibits lush fruit flavors of tropical fruit, floral, and lemon-verbana aromas. (around $10)
Columbia Winery 2006 Gewurztraminer
Pale straw yellow color. Hints of allspice and pink grapefruit accent the sweet fruit palate. Crisp finish with a good balance of acidity. Versatile with food, especially with spicy. (around $10)
Las Rocas de San Alejandro 2005 Garnacha - Grenache Red Wine This Grenache is made from vines that are 70 to 100 years old grown in high altitude vineyards of Spain. Enjoy enticing aromas of firsch, raspberries, and pepper. This balanced, full flavored wine is rated 90 by Robert Parker. (around $10 - A great deal)

Penfolds Bin 7 Shiraz is a great inexpensive wine, Please don’t give it in the paper bag, most wine stores sell little decorative bags or just tie a ribbon on it, but whatever wine you pick to bring remember its the thought that counts and I’m sure it will make a great impression.
