Windows will not start, by any means. Can anyone help?
I have a Medion PC with an Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz processor, FYI.
Right, last night my computer was lagging so I held down the power button for 3-4 seconds until it forced a shutdown. I’m sure this is the root of my problems, but I had done it before without consequence, so the fact that this might happen never occurred to me. Anyway, today, when I switched it on I got BSoD. Now, I know you’ll want all the details of the error message, but I can’t give them to you for reasons I will explain soon. All I remember, or at least think, (I might have forgotten) is that part of the error code was 0xDE and that part of the big all caps with underscores error message was BOOT. Now the reason I can’t give explicit details of the error message is that now even it wont appear. I tried booting in all of the possible modes, , safe mode, last known good configuration, etc but to no avail. After that, and henceforth, when I try to boot from any of the aforementioned options, a white segmented line appears below all the options and then fills up to be just a white bar, at which point everything freezes and I have to force it off by holding down the power button.
I do not have access to the windows xp CD btw, and I’m not willing to fiddle about with my computer’s internals.
Just so you know, I know I’m pretty much screwed, but I’m looking for someone to prove me wrong, cos I really don’t want to use Ubuntu as my main operating system. Software support for Ubuntu is nowhere near windows, and Wine isn’t all that spectacular so I’m kind of desperate. Please help.

I know you want to bring out the scurvy pirate in you.
Go to a bit-torrent site and download windows and burn it to a disc.
Windows is pretty much screwed but maybe you can repair it from the install disc.
Either download or fork out cash. Take your pic.
Your drive probably died in some areas. You probably need to buy a new hard drive or something. The same thing happened to my HDD, and it ended up to be the power source which was killing the drives.
at a guess I would say your windows xp installation would be corrupted and you will need to reinstall.
Borrow a friends cd and reinstall, it’s pretty much the only way to fix a corrupted OS
By holding the power button to power off the needle that writes data to your harddrive destabilized, and craeted scratches on your hard drive..
I’m afraid that even with the XP/Vista disk your problme isn’t fixed…
But just search for that disk and try it because at this moment it’s your only hope..
Else.. Buy a new harddisk (sorry)
In all fairness, it is a Windows computer, maybe it’s time for a mac?
