Wine and cheese pairings?
Hey! I’m throwing a girls night soon and we are going to have a wine and cheese tasting. Are there certain cheeses that go better with some wines than others? Any pairing suggestions?

As a rule of thumb, one drinks red wine with hard cheese, and white wine with soft cheeses. Thus, some of the classic pairings are:
Matured cheddar with Cabernet sauvignon
Brie with Champagne
Goat cheese with Sancerre
Provolone with Chardonnay
English Blue Stilton with Port
But having said that I still believe that there is no limit to the combinations as it is purely a personal decision.
Experiment - as that is the essence of tastings. enjoy.
I’ve always liked cheddar and Merlot…. or swiss and a white wine (or blush)
Sharp cheddar and Zinfandel. The Zin tends to be spicy so they match well.
When it’s just me, I just put out what ever seems to say "eat me", like in Alice in Wonderland.
Cheddar, brick, swiss, colby and jack are all good. Put out a good mixture, and some crackers, and everyone should be happy. Also, have some fresh fruit. Fresh fruits and wine are a natural pairing.
smoked cheeses like gouda and edam are great with a red wine as a mushroom brie.
don’t forget your french bread and dipping sauces like olive oil and basalmic vinegar.
oh yeah add some grapes and sliced apples………..real good.
if you can find Keller Geister wine it is good, a sparkling wine
