Wine as Christmas gift for dad and stepmom…good idea?
I was thinking about what to get my dad and stepmom for Christmas, niether of them really needs anything, but I’ve noticed they both enjoy wine and was wondering if that would be a good idea for a Christmas gift. I want to get them an expensive bottle because they never buy anything over .

look for a picture of christmas year they have enjoyed so much and do effort to immitate the decors. They are old enough, they are not after material things, they are after memories.

For $20 you can buy a very good vintage French Medoc or Beaujolais, for example, but you’re right, it’s not easy. The hardest trick you may have to perform in this act of kindness is finding out what kind of wine they enjoy — not just French, German, Italian, American, etc., but red or white, sweet or dry. Those are just the qualities that can be determined by a clever person without giving away the point of the conversations and questions with queries about the fruity or nutty quality of the wine!

Well, if they enjoy wine then yes. Add to it some nice wine glasses. Perhaps engraved with their names or a nice message. I don’t know where you are but where I am there’s a store called Things Remembered where you can get something like that. Maybe add a dried fruit selection and some chocolates, put it all in a gift basket and you’re good to go.
Or Google for specialty stores. You can find one that sends a different bottle of wine every month for a year.
