If the customer likes dry wines there are a number of lighter wines that are good. Most whites would qualify although, the oakey chardonnays are not what I would refer to as a light summer wine
If they like moderately sweet then a white zin or rose would be appropriate.
For me (I like dry) it would be a crisp sauvignon blanc, orvieto, pinot gris, pinot grigio, muscadet.
Beringer Vineyards is the most popular producer of white zinfandel.
White zinfandel is delicious with cream-based-sauce with pasta, with fish, pork, and other "lighter" meals. It tends to have citrusy and light flavors - orange, vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, cherry. In addition, new white zinfandels have fruit juices added to them right before bottling to create new flavored versions.
Spinetta Family Vineyards has a nice White Zen
The German white wines are very good and under appreciated.
