Wine Still Good with Cork Beginning to Bulge Out?
I belong to a wine club and I live in Oklahoma. It’s hot here now and my most recent delivery, one bottle you can see the cork starting to bulge out (even so it hasn’t broken through the foil) and the other bottle, there’s a little "syrup" around the foil at the top of the cork. Are these wines now bad? I just wanted to take them to my parents for a really really casual dinner; but I’m wondering if I should bring back up wines, too? Thanks a million! Cindy PS Both wines are reds, Italian, Valpolicella.

the syrup is wine that has seeped out and dried up. If some wine gets out then some air probably got in and air is wines biggest enemy. It may still be drinkable but you should try it and consume it in a hurry.
And Valpolicella is a light red wine. So it being more delicate means it is more likely to have gone bad. Yes, bring back up bottles.
the "syrup" is probably dried wine, which means the cork is leaking. A bulging cork means that is about to start leaking. Sudden changes in altitude might have cause this but it is more likely bad wine. I would definately take a backup but I would also try the wine before throwing it out.
