		<description>the syrup is wine that has seeped out and dried up.  If some wine gets out then some air probably got in and air is wines biggest enemy.  It may still be drinkable but you should try it and consume it in a hurry.  

And Valpolicella is a light red wine.  So it being more delicate means it is more likely to have gone bad.  Yes, bring back up bottles.</description>

		<description>the &#34;syrup&#34; is probably dried wine, which means the cork is leaking.  A bulging cork means that is about to start leaking.  Sudden changes in altitude might have cause this but it is more likely bad wine.  I would definately take a backup but I would also try the wine before throwing it out.
